Tiny Bumps Under The Skin On My Face ~ Is It Acne?
There are as many answers to this question as there are symptoms of acne. This facial skin symptom causes high anxiety in women trying to avoid their next "all out" acne outbreak.
We have spoken with many women and their concerns are always the same as we notice their stress levels increase during the course of our conversation. Therefore, we felt it was important to share with others since this seems to be fairly common.
It can be an excess of oil on the face whether it be through natural oil production or from adding oily products to the face which tend to be too heavy for the skin, whereby resulting in these benign breakouts. They don't actually turn into a true pimple and they aren't really visible to the naked eye, but the skin just feels bumpy and / or rough all over as though you are about to have a major outbreak but never do. These tiny facial bumps just seem to sit there until they finally recede.
This is not the acne in any sense of the word as one might experience it, but a reaction within the skin rebelling against saturation of too much product, basically plugging pores. Although it can be a precursor to acne, the accurate term according to dermatologists, is a closed comedone which is either raised, skin colored bumps or something similar to whiteheads. Women with oily or combination skin can also suffer from these pesky facial bumps, yet there are things one can do to reduce the outbreak.
This is why it is vital that skincare products should never smother skin or create an oily after feel past 5 - 15 minutes. If your skin still feels oily after this then you'll know you are using way too much product.
Be Careful Of Overdoing It Even When Using Natural Skincare Ingredients
Another reason for this symptom of tiny bumps, is when we use straight oils on our skin to moisturize. Some women do this out of a concern of having an ingredient reaction, therefore they attempt to keep their skincare simple and ingredients to a minimum. The problem is that any one type of oil will tend to always be too much for any skin type. Oils and butters are always best used in a skin cream where the proper balance has been created for maximum skin absorption without over saturation of the skin by any one particular ingredient. Benefits are lost however, when one thinks that the individual ingredient is better since it is pure and without compromise to other ingredients.
Unfortunately, an imbalance in pH and sebum can be created on the skin when utilizing moisturizing oils in this manner. Synergetic blends of skin creams and cleansers are created for a purpose. By design they perform perfectly by being in tune (bio-identical) with the pH and oil balance of our natural skin by controlling sebum and soothing and moisturizing skin adequately and correctly. NOTE: This can also happen when changing products which results in oil and pH changes on the face. When changing a regimen if you are prone to acne, make sure that you give the new regimen 4-6 months to allow skin to balance and correct itself. Plus make sure to use a light touch in the beginning as your face adjusts to the new regimen. And as always, if you are still concerned, be sure to see a dermatologist since it can be other benign conditions such as milia or keratosis pilaris.

Stick with gentle natural face masks that you can create yourself since many over the counter masks can be drying and overly harsh to skin.
